Lime Canada has launched an initiative in an effort to make it easier for people across British Columbia to get to the polls during the upcoming municipal and provincial elections.
The company, which recently launched in Victoria, is offering voters two 15-minute e-bike rides for free to help them get to their polling place.
This offer, dubbed ‘Lime to the Polls,’ will be live on the Lime app between October 16th, the day before local election day, through October 24th, the day of the provincial election.
The promotion is available in Victoria, Burnaby, Kelowna, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Vancouver, Richmond and Port Moody.
Voters can utilize both e-bikes or e-scooters to get to the polls if they are available in the respective community.
To get the free ride, voters simply have to enter the promotional code VOTECAN26 in the Lime app while booking their ride.
“Transportation should never prevent someone from making their voice heard at the polls,” said Sonia Kandola, director of government relations, Lime Canada.
“By offering free rides, Lime is helping British Columbians get to their polling stations easily and sustainably.”
This initiative was done in collaboration with the non-partisan, youth-led charitable organization Apathy is Boring.
“Voting should be as accessible as possible,” said Sam Reusch, executive director of Apathy is Boring.
“We’re proud to partner with Lime again to help remove one more barrier to getting to the polls and make it easier for people to have their say in elections happening across the country this October.”
The two organizations have partnered in this way before to help voters get to the polls, in 2025 for the federal election, in 2020 and in 2018.
