Looking for something fun to do with the family this weekend?
There’s no better way to celebrate the arrival of fall than with the annual Luxton Fall Fair. This year, the fair is celebrating 113 years of the event.
The fair will be taking place from Friday, October 2nd to Sunday, October 4th at the Luxton Fairgrounds for a weekend dedicated to celebrating agricultural history in the region.
Along with all the rides, games and sweet treats from Westcoast Amusements, the fair will feature lots of fall-themed family-friendly activities.
There will be dozens of competitions taking place throughout the weekend, with a focus on historic and contemporary homesteading and agricultural skills.
Competition categories include everything from horticulture to 3D printing, as well as home baking and preserving, photography, textiles, poultry and more.
The fair also offers the opportunity to learn about historic farming techniques, and attendees will be able to take a look at antique farm equipment, watch blacksmithing demonstrations, learn and watch how apple cider was made 100 years ago and mill grain into flour.
New to the fair this time around will be live sword fighting demonstrations, and adults will even be able to try some sword fighting themselves!
There will also be a modern railway display and the heritage museum will be on-site to teach those curious about the history of Happy Valley.
