A large police presence has remained in the area throughout the day following a serious incident on Queens Avenue this morning.
VicPD are investigating after a person was found dead following a vehicle fire near downtown Victoria Tuesday morning.
At around 7 a.m. on September 15th, an off-duty VicPD officer travelling to work came across a burning vehicle in the 700 block of Queens Avenue and called 911.
The Victoria Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames within minutes.
VicPD’s Major Crime Unit is investigating, with a significant police presence expected to remain in the area.
Investigators are asking anyone who travelled along Douglas or Blanshard streets near Queens Avenue between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. to review their dashcam footage.
Police said they are unable to release further details while the investigation remains in its early stages.
Drivers and pedestrians are being asked to avoid the area while detours remain in place.
