For the first time in nearly a decade, there’s a new most popular name for baby girls in Canada.
If you’ve got a new “Noah” or “Charlotte” in the family, you’re not alone!
Statistics Canada has released a report about the most popular baby names in the country for 2025, revealing some changing trends in how parents are naming their children.
For boys, the name Noah continued to be the most popular, marking the fifth consecutive year of the name topping the charts.
On the other side of the aisle, there’s a new girl in town.
The most popular name for baby girls in 2025 was Charlotte, breaking the nine-year streak of Olivia topping the list.
Both Olivia and Charlotte have been in the top three names for girls for years, with Olivia holding strong since 2007 and Charlotte since 2015.
Nora also entered the top 10, pushing out the name Ava, which has been among the top 10 since 2005.
The names Theodore and Thomas also rose in popularity for boys this year, while Leo, Liam and James all fell in the standings.
