Man dies following vehicle incident at downtown Nanaimo gas station

One man has died following a motor vehicle incident at a downtown Nanaimo gas station.

Nanaimo RCMP said the incident occurred in the parking lot of the Mid-Island Co-op Gas Bar at 60 Victoria Crescent on Wednesday morning.

Police have not released details about what led to the incident or confirmed whether anyone else was injured.

Victoria Crescent was temporarily closed while emergency crews responded and investigators examined the scene.

The road has since reopened, but motorists are still being asked to avoid the area and take an alternate route while the investigation continues.
