Cook Street’s popular Thunderbird Korean Fried Chicken closing at month’s end

It is a sad day for fried chicken fanatics. 

Cook Street’s beloved Thunderbird Korean Fried Chicken has announced they will be closing their doors for good at the end of September. 

The restaurant announced the closure in a heartfelt post on social media on Tuesday, September 1st. 

“Running a small business for many years was not always easy, but we were very fortunate to receive so much help and support along the way,” the owners wrote. 

“We are especially thankful to our customers, our staff, our friends and everyone who helped Thunderbird get to where it is today.” 

The owners also reminisced in their post that the Cook Street eatery became more than just somewhere to grab a bite, it ended up as a place where community could meet, connect and support one another. 

“Over the years, we met many wonderful people and built good relationships with our customers,” they continued. 

“It meant a lot to us to see first-time customers become regulars and continue visiting us over the years. We will always remember the many good memories we made here.”

Thunderbird’s post did not specify the reason for their closure, just that much thought went into the decision. 

The restaurant opened in 2018 and will be permanently closed as of September 27th, marking around eight years of serving up some of the city’s best fried chicken.
