The City of Victoria has completed work on replacing two public washroom facilities along Dallas Road in an effort to improve accessibility
This endeavour was launched by the City as a way to replace the aging, inaccessible facilities with modern, more accessible and gender-neutral washrooms.
According to the City, because some of the 18 public park washrooms were built as far back as 1960, many now require significant renovations to meet current accessibility standards.
The scope of the project will see three washrooms replaced, with work now complete at the Holland Point Park and southeast Beacon Hill Park washrooms.
Work will soon get underway at the washroom in Ross Bay Cemetery.
These three were identified in a 2022 accessibility audit as the least accessible of Victoria’s public washrooms.
“You may still see crews on site as they remove the original buildings and restore the surrounding landscape,” said the City in a social media post.
The Ross Bay Cemetery washroom replacement is planned to get started later this year.
