Ready for a once-in-a-lifetime show, Victoria?
The Guess Who, one of Canada’s most iconic rock bands, will hit the stage at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Tuesday, August 25th as a part of their Takin’ it Back Tour.
With classic hits like “American Woman,” “These Eyes” and “No Sugar Tonight,” the band has cemented their legacy as rock and roll legends in Canada and around the globe.
The band was originally formed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and saw the peak of their success in the late 60s and early 70s.
Unfortunately, the band carries some history that prevented the original members from playing concerts for a period of time.
According to the band’s website, a former member that was kicked out of the group trademarked “The Guess Who” name, barring co-founders Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman from performing their songs to audiences under the moniker.
For years, The Guess Who that performed in venues around the world did not include Bachman and Cummings.
In 2023, Cummings filed a false advertising claim against the band using the “The Guess Who” name. Things escalated to the point that Cummings pulled the performance license for his songs, unilaterally stopping establishments from having the songs performed in venues.
Eventually, Bachman and Cummings were successful in reclaiming the rights to the band’s name.
This tour marks the band’s first return to the stage under the “The Guess Who” name, and an exciting new chapter for them.
The show is bound to be an exciting one, and fans of 70s rock and roll are in for an absolute treat.
The Guess Who will be supported by Chilliwack, another Canadian band with classic rock and roll hits, fronted by Bill Henderson.
Remaining tickets start at $119.25 and can be purchased here.
