Sooke Road shut down near Royal Roads University after vehicle hits pole

Share

Heads up motorists.

Sooke Road is closed in both directions in Colwood Monday afternoon after a vehicle crashed into a BC Hydro pole, leaving more than 3,000 customers without power.

The City of Colwood said the road was closed at Aldeane Avenue, near Royal Roads University.

Drivers heading toward Victoria were being detoured along Kelly Road, while those travelling into Colwood were being diverted using Aldeane Avenue.

In a post on X, West Shore RCMP said the closure was necessary because of a live-wire risk in the area.

BC Hydro reported that the outage began at approximately 1:27 p.m. and was affecting 3,107 customers in parts of Colwood, Langford and View Royal.

A BC Hydro crew was on scene as of 2 p.m. Monday. Injuries are currently unknown and no timeframe was given on when Sooke Road would be reopened.
