RONA launches fundraiser to help vulnerable individuals on Vancouver Island

It’s a good time for some home improvement.

For the next six weeks, RONA will be raising money for three organizations on Vancouver Island to support vulnerable individuals.

From now until October 12th, the RONA Foundation is launching the Home Sweet Home initiative, raising money for different organizations across the country.

The foundation oversees the philanthropic activities of RONA and is marking the fourth consecutive year of the fundraising initiative.

Each year, teams across the RONA network raise funds in support of close to 150 local non-profit organizations throughout Canada.

On Vancouver Island, these organizations are Habitat for Humanity Mid-Vancouver Island, Habitat for Humanity Victoria and the Umbrella Society for Addictions and Mental Health.

The RONA in Cobble Hill, Nanaimo and RONA+ in Nanaimo will be raising money for Habitat for Humanity Mid-Vancouver Island, while the RONA+ in Langford will be fundraising for Habitat for Humanity Victoria and RONA+ at Tillicum Centre will do the same for the Umbrella Society for Addictions and Mental Health.

“Home Sweet Home is much more than a fundraising campaign,” said Catherine Laporte, president of the RONA Foundation Board of Directors and chief digital and marketing officer at RONA inc.

“It’s an opportunity for our teams, all across Canada, to come together in support of causes of their own choosing that directly impact their community.”

She added that this makes every donation especially meaningful, as funds will contribute to making a real impact locally, where it really matters.

RONA customers will have an option to donate $2, $5 or $10 at checkout when they shop in store or online.

The RONA Foundation was established in 1998 with the mission to improve the quality of life of Canadians in need and making it easier to access housing.

The organization says it aims to help victims of domestic violence and their children, low-income families and people with disabilities or mental health issues.
