A Port Alberni woman, Nora G., is now $100,000 richer than she was before winning the MAXPLUS prize from a Lotto Max draw earlier this month.
Nora won on the August 11th draw, and said she was stunned when she found out about her winnings.
“I was in the kitchen at home when I found out I won,” said Nora.
“When I saw the prize amount [on the BCLC Lotto! app] I was shocked.”
After she found out, Nora first shared the news with her husband.
“Once I told my husband, we waited a few days, then I let our kids know at my husband’s birthday dinner,” she said.
Nora noted that the birthday dinner was their event to celebrate her win and plans on enjoying some margaritas following her prize claim.
Aside from buying some margaritas, Nora plans on paying off her mortgage and helping her kids with her winnings.
The BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) says the winning ticket was purchased at the Petro Canada on Hyde Creek Road in Port McNeill.
Every Lotto Max draw includes multiple $100,000 cash prizes depending on how much the main jackpot is.
