Police warn of man reportedly trying to lure people to vehicle in Central Saanich

Police are warning people to keep their distance from a suspicious driver who may be attempting to lure people toward his vehicle in Central Saanich.

In a media release, Central Saanich Police said they and other police agencies in the region have received reports involving a man asking people for directions or offering them a ride.

Police believe the interactions may be attempts to get people to move closer to his vehicle.

The vehicle is described as an older-model white two-door car with a roof rack. Police said the car has also been lowered.

The driver is described as a South Asian man in his 30s.

Anyone who encounters the vehicle is being advised not to approach it or get close to the driver.

Police said people should maintain a safe distance, decline any offer and move to a populated area if necessary.

The incident should then be reported as soon as it is safe to do so. No further details about the reported encounters have been released.
