Cruise ships expected to bring over 46K passengers to Victoria this week

The BC Day long weekend may be over, but Victoria’s waterfront isn’t getting a break.

This week will see 15 cruise ships arrive at Ogden Point between Monday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 9th, carrying a combined estimated 46,520 passengers.

Monday’s Carnival Spirit has already come and gone, arriving at 8 p.m. on BC Day before leaving just before midnight. 

Another 14 ships are scheduled to arrive between Tuesday and Sunday, according to the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority’s (GVHA) current cruise schedule.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday will each see three ships arrive, but Saturday is expected to be the busiest by passenger volume. The three vessels arriving that evening can carry an estimated 10,216 passengers combined.

Sunday follows closely with an estimated 10,013 passengers, while Friday’s three arrivals account for another 9,914.

• Riviera: 12:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., estimated 1,328 passengers
• Carnival Miracle: 8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., estimated 2,124 passengers

Thursday, August 6th

• Voyager of the Seas: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., estimated 4,000 passengers
• Celebrity Edge: 5:30 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., estimated 2,918 passengers

Friday, August 7th

• Norwegian Bliss: 7:30 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., estimated 4,250 passengers
• Eurodam: 8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., estimated 2,104 passengers
• Royal Princess: 8:15 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., estimated 3,560 passengers

Saturday, August 8th

• Star Princess: 7 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., estimated 4,300 passengers
• Norwegian Encore: 7:45 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., estimated 3,998 passengers
• Noordam: 8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., estimated 1,918 passengers

Sunday, August 9th

• Queen Elizabeth: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., estimated 2,081 passengers
• Anthem of the Seas: 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., estimated 4,919 passengers
• MSC Poesia: 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., estimated 3,013 passengers

All 15 ships are scheduled to continue to Seattle after leaving Victoria.

Anthem of the Seas carries the largest passenger estimate of the week at 4,919, while Star Princess follows at 4,300 and Norwegian Bliss at 4,250.

As of the end of Monday, August 3rd, 204 cruise ship arrivals have taken place in Victoria since the season began on April 10th. The passenger estimates listed for those visits total approximately 613,000.

At the beginning of the season, GVHA projected Victoria would see 335 cruise ship visits with an estimated 1,008,109 passengers during 2026.
