This weekend, the annual Cadboro Bay Festival will be celebrating ocean fun and sustainability with live bands, games, crafting stations and more!
The festival is returning to Cadboro-Gyro Park on Sunday, August 9th, and will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Organizers say this annual event aims to bring the community together to celebrate ocean recreation and environmental stewardship—as well as the legendary Cadborosaurus—at one of the region’s most beloved parks.
The theme for this year’s festival focuses on ocean sustainability and recreation.
Those who attend will be able to connect with a myriad of local organizations that support marine conservation. Through those groups, attendees will be empowered to learn how to responsibly enjoy ocean activities and discover more about wildlife in coastal waters.
Aside from learning about sustainable environmentalism, the event will also have face painting, craft stations, lawn games like cornhole and tug of war, live music, food trucks and more.
The music on the main stage will feature local acts The Projectors, Boneyard Babes and Slim Sandy’s Atomic Cocktails.
Organizers are encouraging attendees to get down to the festival via public transit or by riding bikes, as parking will be extremely limited. They also ask that attendees who choose to drive respect local neighbourhood parking bylaws, and not park in residential parking only zones.
There will be a free shuttle bus that will run continuously between UVic parking lot #5 and Cadboro-Gyro Park throughout the event for motorists attending the event.
For the cyclists, there will be a free bike valet service available for the duration of the event courtesy of Capital Bike.
