A 27-year-old man has died by drowning after being pulled from the water near Goldstream Falls on Monday evening.
West Shore RCMP responded to Goldstream Provincial Park at approximately 7:35 p.m. on August 17th following a report of a swimmer in distress.
Police said the man had been swimming near the waterfall when he went underwater and did not resurface.
Bystanders pulled him from the water and immediately began life-saving efforts while emergency crews were on their way.
West Shore RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services and the Langford Fire Department attended the scene.
The man was transported to hospital for further treatment but later died.
“West Shore RCMP extends its condolences to the man’s family and friends,” police said in a statement.
RCMP also thanked the bystanders who acted quickly and attempted to save the man.
