Victorians will once again see the city’s famous landmarks featured on their television screen as a new series filmed on Vancouver Island nears its release.
The Crave original Yaga, filmed right here in Victoria, has just released the show’s first official trailer.
Yaga‘s premise centres around the legend of Baba Yaga, a witch-like figure from Slavic folk lore. While there are many interpretations and versions of the story, the trailer suggests a dark drama with themes of ancient magic and lust.
The show’s creator Kat Sandler had a play of the same name debut in 2019.
In Canada, Yaga will be released on Crave in October of this year.
The Crave series features Kamloops’ own Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams, who Victorians may remember had some choice words to say back in March after spending time in the city filming.
During a show for fashion brand Balenciaga in Paris, the young actor mentioned Victoria, saying the city was “dead as f**k, full of old people.”
While the quote was all in good fun, the actor has cemented a bit of a reputation in the city, for better or for worse.
This marks the next step in the actor’s flourishing career, as his starring role on the hit series Heated Rivalry propelled him into global stardom.
Yaga is a darker venture for the actor, and one that will undoubtedly be a new look as he seeks to cement himself as a big name in Hollywood.
