Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect after approximately $1,200 in cash was stolen from the Sidney Lawn Bowling Club last week.

In a media relase, Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said they were contacted at around 12:42 p.m. on July 17th after staff discovered that the clubhouse had been broken into and rummaged through.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows an unidentified man entering the building at approximately 8:33 p.m. on July 16th and remaining inside for more than an hour.

During that time, the suspect allegedly accessed a lockbox containing approximately $1,200 from a recent ticket sales event.

Police are still working to determine whether anything else was taken from the clubhouse.

Images released by RCMP show the suspect wearing a red hooded jacket, grey pants and dark shoes.

Anyone who was near Fifth Street that evening or has information about the break-in is asked to contact Sidney/North Saanich RCMP at (250) 656-3931.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
