Victoria’s food scene is about to get a whole lot healthier!
HEAL Wellness, a Canadian health food shop that began in Hamilton, Ontario in 2019, has finally made it out to Vancouver Island.
The new location will be at 3956 Shelbourne Street at University Heights, close to the university and many other amenities.
Founded by Jay Zuccato and Jesse Davidson, HEAL Wellness has been serving up açai bowls and healthy smoothies to Canadians for years, and has expanded quickly across the country.
With over a dozen locations in Hamilton and Toronto alone, the business has blown up in Ontario in recent years.
They’ve also expanded out west, and already have several locations open in Vancouver, Abbotsford and Chilliwack. This new location in Victoria will mark their first on Vancouver Island.
HEAL Wellness says their bowls and smoothies are made in front of customers, with a base of fruit and nutrient-rich foods like açai, chia seeds, hemp hearts and add-ons such as nut butters and protein powders.
While an official opening date has not yet been announced, the company made a post on their social media in January of 2026 announcing the Vancouver Island location, and have recently added the address to their website.
University Heights is currently going through a major redevelopment, and is welcoming a number of new businesses into the area, including Vancouver Island’s first Dave’s Hot Chicken location.
Because of this ongoing construction, the new HEAL Wellness location is still being worked on; however, progress is consistently being made and smoothie enthusiasts on Vancouver Island should soon be able to enjoy a healthy meal at the new player in Victoria’s health food scene.
