There’s a ‘soup-erb’ event coming to Colwood this October!

The Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore Society will be hosting Soup’s On!, a community fundraiser to support food security in the region.

According to the society, hundreds of kilograms of food that might otherwise go to waste will be rescued from landfill and transformed into chef-inspired soup.

On Saturday, October 3rd, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Royal Bay Secondary School Auditorium in Colwood, local chefs, community partners and residents will come together to address food insecurity and support programs that aid women, girls, seniors and families in the area.

The society has partnered with The Mustard Seed and Food Share Network to host the event.

Four local chefs have volunteered their time and culinary expertise, and will be creating globally inspired soups using rescued ingredients donated by local growers, grocers and food distributors.

Attendees can enjoy unlimited servings of chef-inspired soups alongside fresh bread. There will also be dairy-free, gluten-free and vegetarian options available.

“Many people across Greater Victoria continue to struggle with food security during these challenging economic times,” said Rhona Beaumont, President of Soroptimist Victoria Westshore.

“Through Soup’s On!, we hope to bring our community together to raise awareness about regional food insecurity while generating vital funds for programs that support women, girls, seniors, and families throughout our region.”

Tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can basis, with each ticket including unlimited servings of soup and bread. There will be $40 ‘Soup Supporter Tickets’ available, which come with a handcrafted pottery bowl.

Purchase your tickets here while they’re still in ‘stock’.
