There’s some exciting news for those up in Ladysmith this weekend!
Ladysmith Days is scheduled for this weekend, taking place starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday, August 1st and ending with a bang when their fireworks display goes off at 10 p.m. on Sunday, August 2nd.
For more than 50 years, Ladysmith Days has united residents in its fun, family-friendly events that take place across town.
The event has become a phenomenon, with events like the Bullhead Derby, where little ones can try their hand at fishing from the Oyster Bay Marina becoming favourites in the community.
The Bullhead Derby will kick off the festival at 7 a.m. on Saturday.
The Rotary Pancake Breakfast will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Transfer Beach, with the Ladysmith Days Expo and Market starting at 10 a.m. at the same location.
Saturday will also feature the nail driving contest, a beer garden, zucchini races and a greasy pole contest, with Vancouver Island Pro Wresting putting on a wrestling show finale to round out the day.
On Sunday, the famous Soap Box Derby, along with a skateboard demo, will begin the action at 10 a.m. and take place downtown, followed by several bands, including headliner Sunset Strip, taking to the stage at Transfer Beach later on.
Ladysmith Days’ grand finale will be a firework display at 10 p.m. from Transfer Beach.
