A man was taken to hospital Tuesday after a forklift was allegedly driven erratically through Victoria before tipping over and pinning him underneath.
In a statement, VicPD said officers received multiple reports around 11 a.m. on July 14th of a man driving a forklift erratically between Blanshard Street and the 2000 block of Belmont Avenue.
Patrol officers, Integrated K9 Services and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team were deployed to the area. BC Emergency Health Services and Victoria Fire Department personnel also responded.
Emergency crews found the forklift tipped over on Belmont Avenue with the driver trapped underneath.
The man was taken into custody and transported to hospital to be assessed for his injuries.
Police said the forklift recovered from the scene had been reported stolen from a nearby business. Investigators are also speaking with numerous witnesses and looking into reports that parked vehicles were struck.
The investigation remains in its early stages and no additional details have been released.
