There’s a brand new type of film festival coming to Victoria.
The Canadian Vertical Film Festival (CVFF), Canada’s first film festival dedicated to vertical story-telling, will be taking place at the Victoria International Marina this weekend.
On Saturday, July 25th from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., attendees can head down to the marina for a day of screenings of films shot in 9:16 format, local food, live DJs, industry panels and conversations with influential voices in vertical content space.
Presented by IATSE 891 and Actsafe Safety Association, the festival says that it is designed to celebrate the creativity, innovation and community driving the rapid growth of vertical film and mobile-first storytelling.
The festival will feature premiers and screenings of several films, including Shanghai Sherlock, Little Light, Beneath Crimson Sails, Say Something and Pizza Guys vs. Vampires.
There will also be signature cocktails inspired by the films!
As the festival concludes, awards will be handed out to films for Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Performance, Best Vertical Series and Most Outstanding Crew, alongside The World Builder Award and the I’d Click That award.
