A fully-functioning commercial olive farm is for sale on Salt Spring Island and is being sold through an online auction in August.
This property, known locally as ‘The Olive Farm,’ was started by an Alberta couple, Sheri and George Braun, who always dreamed of starting an olive farm.
When searching for where they would embark on this endeavour, they found the only commercially viable location in Canada was on Salt Spring Island.
Sheri had lived on Salt Spring as a child, where her mother was born and raised and her grandfather once managed the General Store in Ganges.
She and George moved from Alberta to the island and created a 750-tree grove and small-batch processing facility to produce extra virgin olive oil that sells for around $625 per litre and is used by chefs across Canada and beyond.
However, George passed away in 2025 at the age of 73.
With George gone, Sheri is hoping to sell the farm to someone who will keep it operating.
The south-facing property is located in the Fulford Valley at the base of Mount Maxwell, which is just a five minute drive from Fulford Harbour.
The 74-acre farm is being sold in two parcels, each of which will be sold for $2.19 million.
The first parcel is 36 acres, and features the olive grove, a creek, waterfall, hay production, a modern shop with equipment to grind and mill the olives, irrigation, a greenhouse and a small home.
The second parcel is 38 acres in size and includes a Tuscan villa-style two-bedroom home with views overlooking the Fulford Valley.
With Sheri heading into retirement, she has decided to sell the property online through a one-hour bidding period.
The online auction sale will be handled by CLHbid.com, a law firm specializing in the sale of farms and ranches.

“The olive production is increasing annually as the trees mature and the property’s plentiful irrigation and unused land provides additional opportunities to scale-up production.”
Carter noted that the high bidder, and new owner of the property will also have the option to purchase the farm equipment, the olive mill and malaxing equipment.

The Olive Farm will be put up for sale on August 12th, and has reportedly already garnered interest from buyers in Canada, Colorado, California and Texas.
