Police searching for suspect after youth sexually assaulted at Langford bus stop

West Shore RCMP are asking for the public’s help as they investigate the sexual assault of a girl that occurred at a bus stop in Langford earlier this week.

Police say the incident happened around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9th near the intersection of Jacklin Road and Station Avenue.

According to police, a female youth was approached by an unknown adult man at a bus stop. After a brief conversation, the man allegedly sexually assaulted the youth.

The incident was reported to police on Thursday, June 11th and the investigation remains ongoing.

While no physical injuries were reported, police noted that incidents of sexual violence can have significant emotional and psychological impacts on victims.

At this time, investigators say they have not received any similar reports.

The suspect is described as a man between the ages of 30 and 35 years old with an average build, standing approximately 5’8″ tall. He is believed to have brown mullet-style hair with lighter-coloured ends and short facial hair.

Police say he was wearing a white T-shirt, black pants with bright green numbers on each knee, black running shoes with white soles and laces, and an orange wristband.

“Investigators are working diligently to identify and locate the suspect involved in this incident,” said Acting Sgt. Meghan Groulx of the West Shore RCMP Serious Crime Unit.

“We are asking anyone who may recognize this description, have CCTV in the area, or who has any information that could assist the investigation to come forward and speak with police.”

Groulx added that investigators understand incidents of this nature are highly impactful and concerning for both the victim and the community, and that identifying the person responsible remains a top priority.

Police are canvassing the area and asking anyone who lives nearby or was in the area between noon and 4 p.m. on June 9th to review surveillance and dashcam footage recorded.
