New Lime e-bike share program coming to Victoria this summer

Victoria will soon see a fleet of new Lime e-bikes throughout the city. 

Lime Canada was selected by the City to operate a new shared micromobility e-bike share program. 

The initiative was unanimously approved by city council in 2025. From there, City staff launched a Request For Proposals (RFP) process, which Lime Canada won. 

The goal of a new e-bike share program in Victoria is to bring a safe, affordable and sustainable way of getting around to residents and visitors alike. 

“We are very excited to see a new e-bike share system coming to Victoria,” said Ross Kenny, assistant director of transportation, City of Victoria. 

“It’s a perfect fit with our comprehensive All Ages and Abilities cycling network and will be a great way to get around the city.”

Soon, the city will see Lime e-bikes parked at designated parking zones in locations designed to fit Victoria’s needs. 

Lime is launching one of their first fleets of a new model of e-bike in Victoria, the LimeBike. 

According to Lime Canada, this new model was designed for riders who may have difficulty pedaling for extended periods, and those looking for a comfortable way to replace their car commute. 

“During our initial pilots in other cities, it was clear that the LimeBike earned the love of our riders, with people returning to them frequently for local travel,” said Joe Kraus, president at Lime. 

“The LimeBike makes strides in offering a convenient and inclusive experience to a wider number of riders, while sacrificing nothing in the joy all Lime vehicles inspire.”

The LimeBike features 2.5” tires for strong traction that work effectively in wet conditions. Lime also repositioned the battery and updated the wheels to achieve a lower center of gravity, which results in enhanced stability and maneuverability, especially for smaller-statured riders. 

To use a Lime e-bike, Victorians will have to download the Lime app, which can be used to unlock the bikes at their parking locations. 

Victoria has followed in the footsteps of Saanich, Langford and Colwood, who have all recently launched e-bike share programs of their own through Evolve, a company run by the BCAA. 

Keep an eye out—Lime e-bikes will soon be dispersed throughout Victoria.
