Nanaimo RCMP arrested six adult suspects following an incident involving a stolen vehicle that spanned multiple police jurisdictions.
Just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2nd, Comox Valley RCMP received a call reporting a stolen vehicle being spotted in a rural area near Comox Lake.
Police allege that when officers engaged with the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee. While fleeing, Comox Valley RCMP say that several police vehicles were damaged.
Neighbouring police jurisdictions were alerted, and an RCMP Air Services helicopter was engaged to monitor the suspect vehicle as it proceeded southbound along Highway 19A.
An hour later, at around 9 a.m., the stolen vehicle and its occupants were located near the Nanaimo Airport and arrested without incident.
Nanaimo RCMP noted that five suspects were arrested at the scene, and a sixth was later located and arrested. Three suspects were men and three were women.
Three individuals were released without conditions, while three were held in custody overnight, and released with a court date.
Investigators later located two additional stolen vehicles.
Nanaimo RCMP say there were no reported injuries and the investigation is ongoing.
