As we get ready to celebrate Canada Day right off the heels of Team Canada’s victory against South Africa in the World Cup, the whole city is in good spirits.

Canada Day fireworks in Sidney

Sidney’s Canada Day festivities kick off one day early with celebrations and fireworks in Sidney!

Opening ceremonies start at 7:30 p.m along the waterfront, live music and fireworks! There will also be food trucks at Eastview Park.

Head down to beautiful Sidney to join in on the fun!

Victoria HarbourCats versus Nanaimo NightOwls – Fireworks Night at Royal Athletic Park

It’s Canada Day Fireworks Night with the Victoria HarbourCats!

It is the second of three fireworks nights this season which includes a traditional Canada Day eve celebration!

Check out the game, when the HarbourCats battle against their Vancouver Island rival, the Nanaimo NightOwls.

Waterfront Signage Project Unveiling Ceremony at Beacon Park

The Sidney Museum and Archives have announced the completion of the Waterfront Signage Project, with an unveiling ceremony happening this Tuesday!

Thirteen new interpretive signs have been installed along Sidney’s waterfront walkway to share information about local history, ecology and W̱SÁNEĆ culture with the community.

Members of the public are invited to celebrate this accomplishment at an unveiling ceremony on Tuesday at Beacon Park in Sidney.

Representatives from the Sidney Museum and Archives and the W̱SÁNEĆ Nations will be speaking, in addition to other local dignitaries. A presentation by W̱SÁNEĆ drummers and dancers will close the ceremony.

The Waterfront Signage Project received initial funding from the Province of British Columbia’s 150 Time Immemorial Grant administered by Heritage BC.

Its completion represents the culmination of years of dedicated work by Sidney Museum and Archives staff to revitalize the aging signs first installed in 2009.

This event is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

World Cup Party at Upstairs Entertainment

Join Upstairs Entertainment to celebrate the World Cup and musical artist Yohenkwart’s return to Canada with DJ Juice!
