Saanich Police have raided and shut down an alleged operation of illegal gaming in Victoria, with the help of VicPD.
The investigation was launched in early 2026, when Saanich Police were made aware of the gaming house.
However, investigators determined that the suspected location of the illegal gaming operation was within the VicPD’s jurisdiction. VicPD was consulted, but ultimately it was decided that Saanich Police would lead the investigation.
A search warrant was executed by police on April 23rd at 10:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Burnside Road East.
During the raid, Saanich Police say several individuals were arrested.
Police also seized around $12,000 in cash, as well as gambling equipment and related paraphernalia.
Throughout this operation, Saanich Police say they had the support of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC’s Joint Illegal Gaming Enforcement Team, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team and VicPD’s Remote Piloted Aerial Support Unit.
As of this publication, charges have not been recommended to the Crown, though Saanich Police says that charges related to the operation of an illegal gaming house are anticipated.
The investigation remains ongoing.
