Port McNeill RCMP officer facing assault charge following 2025 incident

The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) has approved an assault charge against a Port McNeill RCMP officer. 

Constable Keegan Schneider is facing one charge of assault that stems from an incident that occurred in Port McNeill on June 21st, 2025. 

Though BCPS has confirmed the charge Schneider faces, no details on the incident have been released. 

The officer’s charges were sworn in the Port Hardy Law Courts on May 4th, and Schneider’s next court appearance will be on June 2nd. 

BCPS says that because this matter is now in the court’s hands, no additional information will be released at this time.
