Oak Bay Police locate $1,500 stolen bike on Pandora Avenue

Oak Bay Police located and returned a stolen bike valued at $1,500 earlier this month. 

At around 1:40 p.m. on May 4th, Oak Bay Police were conducting patrols in the 1900 block of Bee Street when an individual approached them and reported that their $1,500 bicycle had been stolen from a nearby bike rack.

Police say they obtained a description of the bike and reviewed available CCTV video footage.

Around 30 minutes later, an Oak Bay Police bike patrol officer located the stolen bicycle in the 800 block of Pandora Avenue.

 

Officers attended Pandora to confirm it was the stolen bike they were seeking.

Once confirmed, the bike was returned to its rightful owner. 

As of this publication, no suspect has been identified, though the investigation remains ongoing.

Police urge Oak Bay residents to ensure bicycles are properly secured with a high-quality lock.

I'm sorry but I don't see the point of this article besides stirring up animosity towards the unhoused? The bike was found quickly and returned, running this article and mentioning an area where it is known that unhoused people tend to be just leads to people speculating even though it says it is unknown who took it.
