The worst-kept rumour in Vancouver appears set to become official Thursday afternoon.
The Vancouver Canucks are expected to confirm major changes to their front office, including the promotion of franchise legends Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin to co-presidents of hockey operations, along with Ryan Johnson being named the team’s new general manager.
The news was confirmed by Sportsnet ahead of a scheduled Canucks press conference Thursday afternoon at Rogers Arena.

Earlier Thursday morning, the Canucks sent a brief advisory to media outlets announcing a “major announcement” would take place at approximately 1 p.m. today.
The expected front office shakeup comes after a disappointing 2025-26 season that saw Vancouver finish last in the NHL standings with a 25-49-8 record.
Former general manager Patrik Allvin was fired on April 17th after the club failed to meet expectations, while president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford announced earlier this month that he would step away from his role following next month’s NHL draft and transition into an advisory role.
Johnson, who previously served as assistant general manager, had emerged as one of the leading candidates for the position in recent weeks. Rutherford previously said the Canucks considered more than 15 candidates during the search process.
The Sedin twins, who spent their entire NHL careers in Vancouver, have been working within the organization in player development and advisory roles since retiring from professional hockey.
Henrik and Daniel remain among the most iconic figures in franchise history after helping lead the Canucks to the 2011 Stanley Cup Final and becoming two of the most decorated players to ever wear a Vancouver jersey.
