Patio season is officially heating up in Greater Victoria and according to a new list from OpenTable, some of the country’s best outdoor dining spots are right here on southern Vancouver Island.
OpenTable has released its annual list of the Top 100 Restaurants for Outdoor Dining in Canada for 2026, with six restaurants in and around Victoria making the cut.
The restaurants recognized include Boom + Batten, Finn’s Seafood, Chops and Cocktails, Fireside Grill, Glo Restaurant + Lounge, Wind Cries Mary and the Dining Room at Butchart Gardens.
According to OpenTable, the rankings were compiled using more than one million verified diner reviews along with reservation demand, diner ratings and reviews tagged “outdoor dining.”
The restaurant reservation platform says Canadians are embracing patio season in a major way this year, with 74% of people planning to dine outdoors at least once a month during the warmer months.
Victoria’s strong showing comes as outdoor dining continues to grow in popularity across the country. OpenTable says outdoor dining in Canada has increased by 24% year-over-year while diners are also spending more time lingering over meals outside. Outdoor diners averaged 127 minutes at their tables over the past year, roughly 20% longer than indoor diners.
Two Victoria restaurants, Glo Restaurant + Lounge and Wind Cries Mary, were also highlighted as dog-friendly patio destinations.
British Columbia had 21 restaurants featured on the national list, second only to Ontario.
