Thank goodness it’s Friday, Victoria!

Get the party started early this weekend with a rock show at Lucky, or take the family down to Henderson Recreation Centre for family-friendly fun and games.

Whether you’re in the mood for a theatre classic or want to celebrate Mexican culture with a night of dancing, there’s something for everyone this Friday night.

Here are 5 things you won’t want to miss in and around Victoria this Friday, May 1st:

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the McPherson Playhouse

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a musical retelling of the biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob and his eleven brothers.

Joseph, favoured by Jacob with a colourful coat, is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and ends up in Egypt.

He endures trials, including imprisonment after resisting Potiphar’s wife’s advances, but his ability to interpret dreams leads him to become a high-ranking advisor to Pharaoh.

Eventually, his brothers, seeking food during a famine, unknowingly confront Joseph, who tests them before revealing himself and reconciling with his family.

Family Spring Fling at Henderson Recreation Centre

Join the Henderson Recreation Centre for an exciting evening packed with family-friendly activities and entertainment!

This event is recommended for children ages one to seven.

Event activities will include outdoor mini golf and a bouncy castle, a crafting room, visits from the Oak Bay Fire and Police showcasing fire trucks and police cars and more.

Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased at the door.

Improv Karaoke with Garden City Improv

Head down to Theatre SKAM for some improv karaoke!

Improv karaoke is a high-energy musical comedy show where every top 40 hit is made up on the spot, inspired by your suggestions.

Packed with fast-paced improv games and scenes, it’s a night of big laughs and comedy that always hits the right note.

Show up, shout out ideas and get ready to sing along!

Cinco de Mayo Latin Party at Studio 919

Check out Studio 919 for a full Mexican experience.

This party can’t wait until the 5th, it needs a Friday night.

The event will open with a special Huapango performance with live music and dance—culture you feel, music you move to.

DJ Alex King will build the energy before Mariachi Sin Frontera plays the classics that everyone will sing at the top of their lungs.

For the finale, DJ Eric, Chava and Alexander GMZ will take the night to another level.

Cold Fame plus guests at Lucky Bar

Head down to Lucky Bar for a night you won’t forget.

Spring Frost Tour cuts across Western Canada with dual headliners Cold Fame and Freeze The Fall, uniting two of BC’s most compelling modern rock acts for a powerful, high-impact live experience.

Headline will be Victoria alternative alt-rock duo Cold Fame, whose sound fuses driving rock energy with electronic and pop influences.

Sharing the stage is Kelowna-based hard-rock/melodic metal trio Freeze the Fall, who bring a cinematic, emotionally charged sound shaped by haunting melodies, dynamic rhythms and immersive world-building.

Emo pop girlies Fembite will be opening the show.
