A brand new Salvation Army Thrift Store will be celebrating the grand opening of its newest location in Sidney.
Located at 2455 Beacon Avenue, the new thrift store will officially open on Thursday, March 19th.
Prior to becoming a Salvation Army Thrift Store, the space was home to Island Blue Art & Framing, and was home to Lunn’s Bakery, Deli & Coffee Shop for 40 years until it closed in 2017.
The shop offers 4,300 square-feet, and is the seventh “Sally Ann” thrift on Vancouver Island.
The Salvation Army says they use their thrift stores as conduits for affordability, sustainability and community-building for residents across the region.
“We’re thrilled to become part of the Sidney community,” said Ted Troughton, Managing Director of The Salvation Army Thrift Store.
“This new location gives residents an easy way to shop sustainably while supporting life-changing Salvation Army programs and services that make a vital difference in the lives of individuals and families right here at home.”
By shopping at the Salvation Army, every dollar goes towards providing aid to those who need it.
According to the organization, funds from the sale of donated items support local programs such as food banks, shelters, addiction recovery and emergency relief efforts.
“This new store represents so much more than a place to shop—it’s a celebration of community,” continued Troughton.
“Every visit to this store—whether to shop or donate—helps us extend hope, dignity, and support to our neighbours. We can’t wait to welcome the Sidney community into this new space.”
The new Sidney thrift shop will be stocked and ready this Thursday with donated clothing, household items, electronics, books and more.
Once open, the regular store hours will be from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This new thrift store will help solidify Sidney’s claim as the best area to thrift shop in Greater Victoria.
Other thrift stores in Sidney include the three Beacon Community Services shops, the BC SPCA Thrift Store, Green Door Thrift Store, Cat’s Cradle Animal Rescue’s Second Chances and REUZ.
