Share

The Belfry’s annual Spark Festival returns with a lineup of exciting performances, running from March 10th to 23rd.

Each year, the Spark Festival brings a variety of captivating and inspiring events to Victoria, including free and ticketed offerings like play readings, mini-plays, and more—making it the perfect event to ignite creativity and experience the magic of the theatre.

The two main feature shows this year are Big Stuff and Benevolence

Big Stuff, running from March 10th to 21st, stars comedy duo and married couple Matt Baram and Naimo Snieckus. Together, they explore the emotional power of everyday objects with their unique comedy style.

Benevolence, created and performed by Kevin Matthew Wong, takes the audience on a charming journey through a Chinese-Canadian tale, intertwining a powerful personal story that spans generations with a connection to Victoria’s oldest Chinese temple, Tam Kung Temple.

Both Big Stuff and Benevolence tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can scale.

In addition to these main performances, there will be a variety of fun, free events happening throughout the festival.

Catch 10-minute mini plays that take place at random places across the Belfry, a Playwrights’ Cabaret featuring UVic’s talented up-and-coming theatre artists, and The Flame—a showcase of real stories from real people, brought to life with music.

Whether you’re attending one of the main shows or exploring the free events, the Belfry’s 2026 Spark Festival promises to inspire creativity and spark your imagination.
