Vancouver Island’s Naked Bungy is celebrating its 20th year raising money for mental health on February 28th and March 1st at WildPlay Nanaimo.
Hundreds of brave participants from Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, and beyond will leap 150 feet in the nude—all to raise awareness and support Mental Health Recovery Partners South Island (MHRP SI).
Since the fundraiser launched in 2006, Naked Bungy has raised more than $785,000 for the organization, and this year, they hope to add another $100,000.
With donations made by the public—and the support of an anonymous donor matching every donation up to $50,000—organizers are hopeful they can reach their goal.
Mental health impacts one in five people, yet access to support remains a challenge for many. MHRP SI is an organization that provides free, rapid-access, and self-referred services, including counselling, peer support, education, and more.
“Every jumper reminds us that when we take the leap together, stigma doesn’t stand a chance,” said Janine Theobald, Executive Director of MHRP SI.
“MHRP SI is so grateful for each partner, participant and supporter who makes this essential fund‑ and awareness‑raising event possible.”
This year’s star jumpers include 100.3 The Q! and The Zone @ 91-3 promotions director, Tess Yee, The Afternoon Zone host, Kirsten James, and Canada’s Drag Race season three Miss Congeniality winner, Vivian Vanderpuss.
The annual Naked Bungy blends courage, humour, and community connection, creating an event that inspires participation and sparks conversations about mental health.
