Fake nurse sentenced to jail after working across Greater Victoria

A woman who posed as a registered nurse and worked in healthcare settings across the Capital Regional District has now been sentenced to jail.

In a media statement, Central Saanich Police (CSPS) confirmed Charrybelle Talaue was sentenced on February 3rd, to 115 days in jail after pleading guilty to five criminal offences.

Those included one count of forgery, two counts of identity fraud, and two counts of fraud. Credit was applied for time already served in pre-sentence custody.

Talaue was originally charged in 2024 after police alleged she misrepresented herself as a registered nurse and used false credentials to secure employment in healthcare settings.

Investigators believe the offences began in December 2023 and occurred across the Capital Regional District, with the investigation later expanding into Alberta, where additional charges were laid.

Talaue had been arrested in the United States last year and returned to Canada to face multiple fraud-related charges.

Police have said Talaue is not, and has never been, registered as a nurse. In 2023, both the BC College of Nurses and Midwives and the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta issued public advisories warning healthcare employers that she may be using fraudulent documentation to gain employment.

While awaiting trial, Talaue fled the jurisdiction, prompting the issuance of arrest warrants.

CSPS detectives later located her in Idaho, where she was taken into custody with the assistance of US federal and Canadian partners.

She was then returned to Canada and remanded in custody.

Chief Constable Ian Lawson said the investigation required extensive coordination across multiple jurisdictions.

“This investigation was complex and required significant collaboration with law enforcement agencies across multiple jurisdictions,” Lawson said in a statement.

“The efforts of our members resulted in a successful conviction and helped ensure the continued safety of our community.”

Police have previously said Talaue used multiple aliases in connection with the offences, including:

  • Charrybelle Perez Talaue
  • Charrybelle Talaue Baldesancho
  • Belle Talaue
  • Belle Marie
  • Charrybelle Baldesancho
  • Charie Talaue
  • Yves Anglehart
  • Belle Yves Talaue Anglehart
  • Yves Belle Anglehart

The investigation is now considered complete following her sentencing.
