Whether you’re in the mood to browse a market, discover your next favourite movie, or spend the night laughing, there’s plenty happening to make a weeknight feel special.

Here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria this Tuesday, February 10th:

Destroyed Microcinema Market

Don’t miss the first day of Destroyed Cinema’s micro-cinema market!

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be various vendors from Colage Market for cinema and pop culture lovers to browse while secret animated and experimental films are playing in the background.

This market is located in Market Square in the lower courtyard unit #29.

Victoria Film Festival

The fun continues! There’s less than one week left of the Victoria Film Festival, so don’t miss out on Tuesday’s lineup.

Calle Málaga

Winner of the 2025 Venice Spotlight Audience Award and Morocco’s submission for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars, Calle Málaga stars Carmen Maura as Maria, a mother whose daughter is trying to take her home. Maria, on the other hand, uses every trick in her arsenal to keep what’s hers and build on the life she has.

This film is playing at The Vic Theatre on Tuesday, February 10th at 2:30 p.m. Get your tickets here

Portal to Hell

Dancing between absurdity and substance, this debut feature leans into the unexpected as a laundromat portal to hell tempts a debt collector to make a bargain with a demon for three souls to save his neighbour.

Mortician

A mild-mannered Iranian expatriate mortician living in Canada receives an unusual request from a dissident singer in hiding, leading to an unusual relationship that highlights the human need for connection during their mutual displacement.

Black Girl at Cinceta

Black Girl is a 1966 film directed by Senegalese director Ousmane Sembène, following Diouana, a Senegalese woman aspiring for a better life, takes the job of a governess for a French family. 

However, things become complicated when they treat her as a maid and she faces racism.

Tickets are $11 for the general public, and $8 for UVSS students.

Phoenix Comedy Open Mic

Rise from the ashes every Tuesday night at Phoenix Bar & Grill! 

Whether you’re a seasoned comic working out new material or someone who’s never touched a mic before, this show is all about trying, learning, and having fun. 

The cover is $5 at the door!

Maanomaa, My Brother at the Belfry Theatre

A simple and theatrical performance of two “brothers” confronting the chasm between them. 

Childhood friends Kwame and Will reunite in Ghana for the funeral of a loved one, and discover how much has changed since they separated 25 years earlier. 

Telling their story in a beautiful combination of dialogue and movement, the play is both fiercely personal and curiously abstract.
