Victoria and Vancouver Island have been ranked the eighth best in the U.S. News & World Report’s list of 20 Best Places to Visit in Canada for 2026.

Praised for its quaint atmosphere and strong British roots, the ranking highlights Victoria’s museums, historic architecture, and beautifully manicured gardens.

Iconic experiences like Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Empress and strolling the Inner Harbour were noted as must-dos, along with scenic day trips to places like Sooke.

Beyond the city, the report encourages travellers to explore Vancouver Island’s wild Pacific beaches, ancient old-growth forests, and renowned wine regions, in popular destinations like Tofino and the Cowichan Valley.

BC dominated the list, with Vancouver ranking just behind Victoria at number nine, followed by the Okanagan Valley at 11th, Whistler at 14th, and Kelowna at 20th.

Victoria also earned additional recognition from the U.S. News & World Report, ranking as the fifth best place to visit in the fall for 2025 and the eighth best affordable romantic getaway for 2026.

With global recognition continuing to roll in, it’s safe to say the secret is out—Victoria and Vancouver Island are no longer just a hidden gem.
