Victoria among one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities according to U-Haul report

Victoria has ranked number four among Canada’s fastest-growing cities in 2025, according to U-Haul’s Growth Index report.

Joining Victoria in the top five are Calgary at number one, followed by Barrie, Montreal, and Edmonton.

While Alberta remains the number one growth province for the third year in a row, BC claimed the number two spot for attracting U-Haul customers.

The report highlights BC’s natural beauty and temperate climate, especially compared to other provinces, continuing to draw in new residents and maintain current ones.

The province’s strong healthcare and education systems also make it a popular choice for young couples and families.

U-Haul ranks cities and provinces by analyzing one-way moves, measuring the net number of customers who rent moving equipment in one location or city and return it elsewhere.

These rankings don’t directly reflect economic or population growth, but provide a snapshot of how well cities and provinces are attracting and retaining residents.

As Victoria continues to grow in both popularity and size, it’s clear that the city’s blend of natural beauty, temperate climate, and vibrant community are key factors driving this growth.
