VicPD investigators are seeking public assistance in locating Benton, a missing youth.

According to police, Benton was originally reported missing in another Vancouver Island jurisdiction, but has since been seen in the Victoria area.

Police have not revealed what community Benton was reported missing from.

VicPD say they have been notified by a partner police agency that the missing youth has been seen in Victoria on several occasions since January 13th.

One confirmed sighting of Benton occurred near the intersection of Shelbourne Street and Hillside Avenue.

Because he is believed to be in Victoria, the investigation was transferred to VicPD, and a missing person file has been opened.

Benton is described as standing 5’9” tall, with dark brown hair and a medium build. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie and carrying a black backpack. Police did not reveal his age.

“The youth is believed to be in the company of two other young people who are also the subjects of an active missing person investigation from another jurisdiction,” said VicPD in a media release.

“Family members have reported seeing the youth in Victoria, but the youth has been actively avoiding contact to prevent being returned home.”

Anyone who sees Benton is urged to call 911.

Those with information on his whereabouts should contact the E-Comm Report Desk at (250) 995-7654 extension 1, and reference file 26-2986.
