Nominations are now open for the Greater Victoria Sports Awards, which highlight the achievements of Greater Victoria athletes, teams, coaches and volunteers.
This year’s gala will be held on March 26th at the Government House, where they will reveal the winners, showcasing those who have left a mark on Greater Victoria’s sports scene.
The gala is not only for recognizing impressive sports skills and abilities, but also endurance, sportsmanship spirit, and dedication to the community.
First hosted in 1968, the Victoria Sports Awards were an annual fixture between 1968 and 2006. However, they were paused and then relaunched in 2023 with the help of the Greater Victoria Sport Tourism Commission.
Annual award categories include High School Athlete of the Year, College/University of Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year, Event of the Year, and Pat Hall Volunteer Award. View the full award lineup here.
Each year, two awards are presented to the most deserving nominees in the first five categories, with the intent that recipients reflect gender diversity in sport.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2026 event, and will close on February 16th.
Any individual, team, or organization from Greater Victoria—or with a connection to the region—can be nominated for a Greater Victoria Sports Award.
