Major crime unit investigating suspicious death in Saanich

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) are investigating a suspicious death after officers were called to a residence in Saanich on Monday.

According to Saanich Police, officers began investigating the incident on January 5th after a death was reported inside a home in the 1600 block of Blair Avenue.

The investigation was taken over by the VIIMCU, which now has conduct of the case. Residents in the area can expect to see an ongoing police presence as detectives continue their work.

Police say one person is currently in custody in connection with the investigation. At this time, investigators believe the incident was isolated.

Police have not released further details at this stage as the investigation remains ongoing.
