A recall on Gerber-brand ‘Arrowroot’ biscuits has been initiated due to possible contamination of soft plastic and paper.
Arrowroots are described as light, mildly sweet and crunchy cookies that are made with flour from the arrowroot plant’s rhizomes.
They are often a favourite snack among young children, especially teething toddlers because they are an easily digestible, low-calorie snack.
On Tuesday, January 27th, Gerber triggered the recall on their product, which prompted the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to publish a notice of recall, instructing Canadians what to do if they have an impacted product.
According to CFIA, Canadians should not consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled product.
Impacted batches will reportedly have a UPC number of “0 55000 40314 6.”
Recalled products should either be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.
Next steps for the CFIA in this matter will be to conduct a food safety inspection, which in some cases leads to further recalls.
