A Brentwood Bay man is still taking it all in after a scratch ticket he received as a gift from his dad turned out to be worth $675,000.
Thomas L. says he was at home when he first realized the ‘Set For Life’ ticket was a big winner, and his initial reaction was disbelief.
“I was sitting at home thinking, ‘No way, this has to be a prank scratch ticket,’” he said. “I turned it over and read it a few times.”
To confirm the win, Thomas borrowed his dad’s phone and checked the ticket using BCLC’s Lotto! App. That is when it became clear the prize was very real.
The Brentwood Bay resident says he plans to help his family with the money and may also make a trip to Las Vegas to watch a UFC fight.
“It’s super exciting to win a big amount like this,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Walmart at Hillside Mall in Victoria.
According to BCLC, lottery players across the province redeemed more than $153 million in Scratch and Win prizes in 2025.
Scratch tickets can be purchased at lottery retailers or online through PlayNow.com, and tickets can be checked anytime using the Lotto! App.
