Victoria brings back popular downtown parking discount for holiday season

Share

This holiday season, the City of Victoria is bringing back a downtown parking discount to help encourage people to shop downtown for their holiday needs.

The parking discount is offered to any motorist who wishes to park downtown via the ParkVictoria app.

All app-users will receive a one-time $6 parking credit until December 13th. This credit can only be claimed by entering the code “JOY25” in the Park Victoria app.

“Whether you’re heading downtown for food, shopping or one of many festive events or activities, the JOY25 promo code is an early gift from the City,” said Beth Long, Manager of Parking Services.

“We want your experience downtown to start with a little smile.”

The discount can be used at all City-owned parkades, parking lots and/or on-street parking spaces.

The City says that to get the discount, motorists must start a parking session in the ParkVictoria app by entering the parking space, time and payment method.

Then, under “Session Options,” they can enter the promo code “JOY25” to receive the credit/discount.

According to the City, last year’s parking discount was claimed by just over 20,000 motorists.

Given that the downtown core can get busy at peak hours—especially leading up to the holidays—those who are planning to head into downtown can check real-time parking availability in City-owned parkades on Victoria’s parking webpage

Once downtown, motorists can let the “sparkling digital signs” at each parkade entrance guide you to a parking spot.

The City also noted that there are 144 one-hour-free spots in the City’s five parkades and that parking is always free after 8 p.m. daily and all day in parkades on Sundays.

Lastly, those who don’t want to deal with parking at all can ride a bike or e-scooter and leave it securely stored at the Downtown Bike Valet.
