VicPD say a medical event may have led to a motor vehicle collision that injured two pedestrians at the intersection of Oak Bay Avenue and Foul Bay Road on Friday afternoon.
According to police, officers were called to the intersection just before 1 p.m. on December 19th, along with BC Emergency Health Services and the Victoria Fire Department, after reports of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrians.
Police located a large collision scene spanning approximately one city block.
Investigators say initial findings suggest the driver may have experienced a medical event, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, travel onto the sidewalk, and strike two pedestrians.
One youth sustained minor injuries, while an elderly pedestrian suffered injuries that are considered non-life-threatening, police said.
The intersection remained closed for several hours as collision reconstruction specialists examined the scene. VicPD said the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes while police continued their investigation.
