Skateboarder critically injured in Vic West collision with vehicle: VicPD

VicPD are looking for witnesses and dashcam footage after a collision in Vic West Sunday night left a pedestrian with critical injuries.

According to police, officers responded just after 8 p.m. on December 21st to a report from BC Emergency Health Services of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on a skateboard at the intersection of Bay Street and Tyee Road.

Paramedics transported the pedestrian to hospital in critical condition.

A significant emergency response attended the scene, including police crash reconstruction specialists, multiple ambulance units and fire crews.

The area was closed to traffic for several hours while investigators examined the scene, with roads reopening around 3 a.m. Monday.

Police say they are continuing to gather evidence and are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash cam footage from the area at the time, to come forward.
