Oak Bay Police are warning the public after reports of a woman shining a laser at passing drivers near the intersection of Fort Street and Foul Bay Road.

Police say the incident was reported on the evening of December 14th, when officers were called to the area following concerns that a red laser was being directed at vehicles.

A witness described the woman as being in her 40s, approximately 5’8″ tall, with a slim build and shoulder-length dark hair.

She was reportedly wearing dark clothing and carrying a white umbrella. Police conducted patrols in the area but were unable to locate the woman.

According to Oak Bay Police, similar reports have been received on recent weekends, typically between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The incidents are believed to have occurred in the same general area.

Police are emphasizing that shining lasers at drivers is extremely dangerous and can result in arrest and criminal charges. Lasers can cause temporary blindness or distraction, increasing the risk of collisions and serious injury.

Anyone who witnesses similar incidents or has information related to these reports is asked to contact Oak Bay Police at (250) 592-2424 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-
