After briefly giving up the top spot, Noah has officially reclaimed its crown as BC’s most popular baby name.
New data released by the BC Government shows Noah finished first in 2025, overtaking last year’s top choice, Oliver.
It wasn’t a photo finish either, there were 198 more babies named Noah than Oliver across the province.
It’s a familiar position for the name. Noah previously ranked number one in both 2022 and 2023, slipped to fourth place in 2024, and has now surged back to the top, proving its popularity never really faded.
According to the Vital Statistics Agency, these were the 10 most popular baby names in BC in 2025:
- Noah
- Oliver
- Theodore
- Liam
- Olivia
- Charlotte
- Jack
- Henry
- Sophia
- James
The list continues a familiar trend seen in recent years, with classic and traditional names dominating the rankings rather than flashy newcomers.
In 2024, Oliver narrowly held onto first place, followed by Olivia, Liam, and Noah. Last year’s top 10 included:
- Oliver
- Olivia
- Liam
- Noah
- Theodore
- Charlotte
- Lucas
- Isla
- Amelia
- Leo
Several names, including Noah, Oliver, Olivia, Liam, Theodore, and Charlotte, appear in both years, highlighting how steady naming preferences remain across the province.
This year also saw a handful of familiar favourites return to the top 10, including Jack, Henry, Sophia, and James, while names like Isla, Amelia, Lucas, and Leo slipped out of the rankings.
From January 1st to December 15th, 41,557 babies were registered as born in BC. As in previous years, only names that appeared five or more times were included in the official rankings.
For parents still narrowing down baby name lists, or anyone curious about how popular their own name might be, the full breakdown is available through the province’s Vital Statistics data.
And if recent history is any guide, don’t be surprised if Noah isn’t finished sitting at number one just yet.
